Hello, everyone! I'm working on the timeline for the exchange as well as some of the most major changes to its set-up, and I wanted to start asking a few questions to get an idea of what works best for people.
First of all, in the past Holly Poly has accepted a variety of different works, including meta and remixes. Looking at past archives, though, it doesn't seem like those two fanwork types have been used much. For streamlining purposes, I was considering narrowing down the types of allowed fanworks to the following: fanart, fanfiction, fanvids, and podfic. Thoughts?
Timing-wise, would people prefer that we keep the same general timeline (nominations in September, sign-ups in October, works due in early January) or would you be interested in pushing the deadline back a bit so that works are due in either late January or early February? Originally, Holly Poly was a replacement for I Saw Three Ships, which traditionally had stories released on January 6 (Epiphany), and while the deadlines were pushed back a little over the last few years, they still stayed in that same general timeframe of early(ish) January.
I'm perfectly fine with either option. I just wanted to get some feedback in regards to what the majority prefers. There are several large exchanges in December/January for fic writers, fanartists, vidders, and podficcers (Yuletide, Festivids, ITPE, etc.), and I've seen comments being made over the years about wishing the creating period didn't overlap quite as much with them. Since I'm changing several other things about the exchange, I wanted to at least offer that up as a possibility.
