Please go through and double check that all your nominations are in the correct fandom, have all the characters, spelling is correct, etc. Signups will open on Saturday/Friday night.

ETA: Below are metafandom-specific questions. If you nominated anything associated with these metafandoms, please check to see if there are any questions related to your nominations.

OK, enough people are saying all 5 so we'll keep them separate. In that case just make sure that the relationships you want are in the fandom you want!

Hoo boy. OK, let me see if I can recreate some of the structure of what we have:
Marvel (super-overarching covers-everything metatag)
*Marvel (Comics)
-- 616, Noir, Black Panther, Hawkeye, Next Avengers, Squirrel Girl, X-Men (Comics), Young Avengers
*MCU (no individual movies nominated)
--Agent Carter, SHIELD, Daredevil, Luke Cage
*4 Marvel movies by other studios (Amazing Spider-Man, Fantastic Four (2005ish), and the two recent X-Men film serieses
*Avengers: EMH
*Avengers Academy
I'm assuming the general "Marvel" tag was nominated by people who don't care which canon they're pulling from, or are deliberately pulling from several (in-Marvel crossover rels are here). Is it the same for Marvel (Comics), or can that tag be eliminated and all tags assigned only to specific comics fandoms?
Please make sure all relationships are in all the fandoms you want them in!

*Supergirl is the only specific comic nominated, otherwise I've just got the general DCU (Comics). Have I missed any? Can these be placed in DCU, or not?
*DC TV shows: is there no metatag for the TV shows? There's a looot of crossover in these.
Please make sure all relationships are in all the fandoms you want them in!

All shows and AOS have been nominated, no metatags, I think is fine as is. Please double check AOS and TOS for your nominated relationships.

I've got "All Media Types" and "Original Series" nominated. I'd like to move everything to just AMT, which has all the nominated relationships from OS, plus more. [ETA: definitely will do]

Buffy/Angel: Separate, yes?
Sherlock Holmes: I've got the books and Sherlock, none of the movies. Correct? I assume we want separate. Please double check your relationships are in the correct fandoms.

*Final Fantasy: Nominated: VII, Compilation of VII, X, X-2, XII. Can any of these be combined?
*Fire Emblem: Combine all under Series metatag, yes? [ETA: yes]
*Dragon Age: I've got All Media Types and Video Games. Can I move all to AMT?

Under "The Silmarillion", the following tags: Elrond Peredhel/Erestor/Glorfindel, Legolas Greenleaf/Tauriel/Thranduil, Berúthiel (Tolkien)/Original Female Character(s), Celeborn/Galadriel | Artanis/Gandalf | Mithrandir don't belong in there (they're duplicates from other Tolkien fandoms).

Also in Fingolfin | Ñolofinwë/Fingon | Findekáno/Maedhros | Maitmo, "Maitmo" is a misspelling, it should be "Maitimo".

The other thing about Berúthiel (Tolkien)/Original Female Character(s): the tag as it is now implies that it could be a pairing and not necessarily a polyship. Did the nominator perhaps mean Berúthiel (Tolkien)/Original Female Character(s)/Original Female Character(s)(/additional OFCs?), or was the (s) meant to mean more than one? If so then I think that tag should be changed to Berúthiel (Tolkien)/Original Female Characters. I think that tag just needed to be clarified. Otherwise, +1 rest of your comment.

You don't have to use canonicals for the tagset, though ...

That's weird, and has never happened in any exchange I've been in before.

I think if fans agree a certain ship doesn't go in under a certain fandom it shouldn't be there, irrespective of AO3's association mechanisms. The Tolkien fandoms aren't all one and the same.

I've seen it happen in tons of exchanges, and sometimes mods have to come up with all kinds of workarounds to make the tags stick where they're supposed to be because they just keep wandering. Usually ones like Hercules or Clark Kent, who have been in tons of canons

Nominations wandering into other fandoms yes, but not a ship tag showing up in all fandoms in the tagset where it is "canonical" (and I'm wondering how Legolas/Tauriel/Thranduil can be canonical in The Silmarillion or LOTR since Tauriel is a Hobbit-movies only character) and the mod not finding a way to fix that.

Go is not a main Pokémon game, and should remain separate imo. Not my nom, but it's absolutely not part of the main game series (while it does involve pokemon themselves, nearly everything about it is different).

Yes to combining Fire Emblem

The one relationship in the tag is definitely in the right fandom, so I think it's safe to leave Pokémon GO as is.

Tolkien thoughts:

Lord of the Rings Movie Universe (for just the movies) and
J. R. R. Tolkien Literature (for just the books)
J. R. R. Tolkien Media Universe (for everything)

It isn't perfect, but it reflects how fandoms have been grouped in other fandoms and might be familiar to folks so they can understand right away which is which.

I've got DC Animated Universe and Young Justice. Just confirming that YJ is not part of DCAU?

I didn't nominated either, but yes. Young Justice is a completely separate series from the DCAU.

Dragon Age: I've got All Media Types and Video Games. Can I move all to AMT?

There don't appear to be any comics-only relationships nominated, at least not that I'm noticing at a glance, so I think that it would be fine to combine them all to AMT.

Buffy/Angel: Separate, yes?

If you leave it separate, then you're going to need to clean up the tags. There are lots of duplicate pairings showing up in each (which you may or may not want to leave there?), plus a few in A:tS that should only be in BtVS and vice versa. I'm not sure if they were nominated that way, or if AO3 is pulling them into the wrong categories since a lot of exchanges tend to combine the Buffyverse into one fandom.

RE: Tolkien

Tolkien fandoms for other exchanges have always been nominated as:

The Silmarillion and other histories of Middle-Earth - J. R. R. Tolkien
Lord of the Rings - J.R.R. Tolkien
Lord of the Rings (Movies)
The Hobbit - J.R.R. Tolkien
The Hobbit (Jackson Movies)

Reason being that a fan of one of these categories may not necessary be a fan of the other four and would consider themselves part of a different fandom (Hobbit fans who would not consider themselves part of the Silmarillion fandom, for example). I know it looks like a lot, but it's how they're normally grouped in other exchanges.

In my experience, not really. I've seen people who were LOTR movie fans who would want nothing to do with the Hobbit films. I've noticed different fan cultures in each. Again, I'm sorry the fandom is fractured into these five parts, but that's how they're usually categorized in other exchanges. The Hobbit and LOTR books may be combined, but there isn't a tag on AO3 that does that as far as I know. I wish I can help more, but hopefully this info can give you some insight into the fandom? :)

At the very least, I'd separate it into Silmarillion, movies, and books. But, yeah, I agree that fandom typically separates it into all five like the original comment mentioned.

Tolkien fandom. It can't be easy. :-/

You can probably combine Final Fantasy X and X-2, as well as Final Fantasy VII and the Compilation.

All of the Fire Emblem games are in different universes, give or take the odd direct sequel, so I'd leave those as is, IMO.

I'd argue for combining the Fire Emblems, or separating out the ones currently in 'Fire Emblem Series' (which was me, because I used last year's tagset as a template).

So either put the three tags from Awakening and Fates under Series or separate the three under Series into Awakening and Fates. If it was a larger number of nominations, I think it'd make more sense to split them, but since it's a half-dozen, combining them should be fine. It'll save a request/offer slot, too.

ETA: Also, Awakening and Fates, the only two nominated, kiiiinda take place in the same universe anyway? There's some character carry-over between the two games.

It looks like a variation on Leon/Sephiroth/Cloud Strife has wandered into Final Fantasy VII. Leon definitely isn't in that game.

I made a typo in my TURN (TV) nom :/

The first ship should be Anna Strong/Abraham Woodhull/Mary Woodhull. "Abraham" is mispelled "Abrahama."

I think Black Panther, Hawkeye, Next Avengers, Squirrel Girl, Young Avengers can all be umbrella'd under Marvel 616. Technically X-Men (Comics), too, but I know some fans like to keep that separate, so I might not be the best person to ask. Probably depends on the ships nominated too, whether they spread between Avengers and X-Men. And Noir is something different from regular 616 canon, I think, so that should probably be separate too.

I've seen the shows split up between Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter, and the Netflix Universe (Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, so far) or all of it umbrella'd under the MCU. Again, probably depends on how much crossover there is with the ships.

I don't know much about Avengers: EMH and Avengers Academy, but I think they're best kept separate.

ETA: from what I can see the ships in all the canons I'm familiar with here mostly stay in their specific lane, so I think you should be good splitting them up as far down as you want to go, as well as throwing them in together.
