Just to give everyone an update, the archive should only be a few hours later than planned going live. Golive should be happening by 3-4am at the absolute latest, and there's a very good chance that it might be happening earlier.

If you're planning on posting a treat of any type before golive, try to have it posted by 2am EST.

I just want some clarification. The go-live time listed on AO3 is 11:59 PM EST on the 18th. Do you mean the 3-4 AM after that or do you mean tonight?

does that mean the archive is going live in a few hours or in 24+ hours? this answer is very unclear and since the comm doesn’t have pinned posts, ive been using the ao3 page to keep track of the schedule, which i thought meant the archive was going live, at earliest, 23 hours from now. are you saying the archive is going live in about an hour?

That would usually mean "all times are 11:59pm EDT/EST, save for golive which will depend on when final pinch hits are posted SO IT COULD BE LATER" not "SO IT COULD BE EARLIER". You're going to find this fools a lot of people. A LOT. Please don't do it!

I'm thinking about people who might still be editing and counting on having today to finish that up.

I'm sorry to hear you received unpleasant messages, but it would be very much appreciated if you could go with the schedule posted on AO3. For a lot of people you're going to find that's what they expected anyway and opening now would be almost a full day early to them. Including me!

That you received hate for a standard exchange practice is horrible. It seems like you are in a damned if you do and damned if you don't position, for which I do not envy you.

Would it be possible for future rounds for the community post with rules and notes about different times in the schedule to be pinned so that it is always visible? In my experience more people are likely to reference the dreamwidth post than to read on AO3. Otherwise it's just sort of habit for exchange participants to assume that deadlines and reveals won't happen before the stated time on the AO3.

+1 to all of this.

The reason I was using the AO3 schedule is because I couldn't find the information on the Dreamwidth. I can't think of another exchange where the AO3 schedule is intended as the latest time the archive will open not the earliest, so if that was in a pinned post on the Dreamwidth it would be a lot clearer going forward.

as the other anon said, usually that means there might be a delay until the last pinch hits come in, not that the archive will open earlier than the stated time on the ao3 profile, which is tomorrow night. it makes it really frustrating and it wasn't really stated before now that the archive would essentially be opening early. as the other anon said, please don't do this. please wait until saturday night to open the archive as it stated on the ao3 page.

im sorry you received messages like that, that's really not okay. as the other anon said, i would appreciate the collection going live tomorrow night, which is what most people would probably be expecting to happen.
