I've been asked to delay opening the archive because it was unclear that, when it stated on the AO3 that the the archive would go live on January 18th as soon as everyone had a gift, that meant golive would be happening as early on the 18th as possible. Several people have said that they are still editing their assignments and aren't prepared for golive yet because of that misunderstanding.
Just to be clear: everyone has a gift at this point, so the archive can go live at any time.
It's currently past 2am for me, so I'm going to bed. If anyone feels strongly one way or the other regarding golive, please leave a comment. I'll make a decision once I've actually had a few hours of rest. I've received messages from people on both sides of the issue (asking me to delay opening the archive and asking me why the archive isn't live yet), and at the very least I'm willing to delay until midday to get an idea where the majority stand before making any decisions.

Date: 2020-01-18 07:46 am (UTC)I'd vote to open at the time the AO3 schedule says. A 24 hour delay isn't the end of the world and could mean a number of gifts receive a final update that makes them better for their recipient.

Date: 2020-01-18 03:37 pm (UTC)I run a bunch of exchanges myself, so I know how simultaneously stressful and aggravating and rewarding it can be at times. You’re doing a pretty awesome job at it, and I hope I get the chance to participate again next year! =D
