Quick Question

I'm going to continue to post updates and such about the exchange here on Dreamwidth, but I wanted to check and see if there were any other sites that people would like to see a presence on for Holly Poly going forward. Tumblr? Twitter? Discord?

If people prefer to keep everything solely posted to Dreamwidth, then I'm fine with that. I know that some fandoms (especially newer ones) have a much more prevalent home elsewhere, though, so I'm willing to set up some other accounts for keeping people updated on the exchange if there's interest. And also possibly bring in some new blood, so to speak.

Please feel free to leave a comment if you have any thoughts, concerns, or recommendations.

I think sharing info on Exchanges After Dark on Discord would be really helpful -- you can even ask for a dedicated channel there.

While I really like discords for challenges, I think that's more a place to talk for people who already know and appreciate a challenge. To spread the word to new folks, twitter might be best.

I've had a few people suggest that I join some Discord servers specifically set up for exchanges, so I'm going to at least try to post information about Holly Poly in those this year. The general consensus seems to be in favor of setting up Twitter and Tumblr accounts for crossposting exchange details, so I think that I'm going to at least give it a try this year and see how it goes.

i think you should definitely advertise holly poly on twitter and tumblr. i'm on them a lot more than dreamwidth and other people probably are too.

You're not the only one saying that, so I'm very much considering setting up accounts on both Twitter and Tumblr for the exchange this year.

If you are looking for maximum reach of participants, tumblr and Twitter are good ideas to advertise and cross-post to, as a significant amount of current fandom seems to be there.

That was my thought. I've noticed the last few years that the exchange has been hovering around the same place, participants-wise. I'm fine with it staying in the same place if there just aren't people interested, but I suspect it's more that a lot of people who might like to join in just aren't aware that it exists since Dreamwidth tends to be the home of a pretty specific subset of fandom nowadays.

Yep. We like it here, and we love the people, but the rest of fandom seems to be Elsewhere.
