Nominations Glitches Causing Rejections + Nomination Clarifications #1

We're still busy going through nominations - a bit slower than usual as we get used to the process - but we've had a number of errors when submitting approvals of nominations on AO3, which we are contacting AO3 about. We weren't sure initially if those had caused any problems but we've had two people contact us today to ask about rejected nominations but we hadn't rejected those ourselves. At this stage we won't reject nominations - anything we're not certain about we would ask for clarifications first instead - so if you are seeing any rejections of either fandom or ships that is accidental and please let us know which they are so that we can correct that. We're also not sure if one of the errors might have resulted in fandom/ships getting approved but changed to a different fandom/ship by accident, so we recommend everyone checks their nominations and lets us know about anything you spot that's wrong.

The nominations open post has been updated to add clarifications about nominating House of the Dragon, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (TV 2022) and The Good Wife/The Good Fight and what to do if crossover ships hit the 100 character tag length limit.


If you nominated Bewildered Older Brother/Older Brother's BF/Horny Younger Brother Wishing to be in a Sandwich (OW) under Original Work, please can you spell out what BF should mean.

If you nominated Empire/Her Emperor/Her Capital City (OW) under Original Work, please can you clarify whether you mean anthropomorphic versions of Empire and Her Capital City or another type of representation for those.

If you nominated Space traveler/Citizens of planet where free use is normalized (OW) under Original Work, please can you clarify what you mean by free use in this context.

If you nominated Neal Caffrey/Couple he's seducing under White Collar, please can you clarify whether you want literally any couple or something more specific, like original characters, or canon characters who are a couple.

If you nominated Chel (Road to El Dorado)/Kuzco (Disney) under Emperor's New Groove (2000), this isn't eligible because it's only a 2 person ship, and it's also a crossover ship nominated under only one of the fandoms. If you meant to nominate an OT3 but made a mistake entering it, please let us know the full ship tag with the relevant fandom in brackets after each character name.

If you nominated the fandom The Real Ghostbusters, do you mean the animated show that ran from 1986-1991, or the original movies, or something else?


We're also looking for input from fans of Critical Role (Web Series) and the new The Legend of Vox Machina animated TV show as to whether the canon is different enough it should be considered a separate canon to nominate or combined with the Critical Role nominations.

We're also looking for input from fans of Critical Role (Web Series) and the new The Legend of Vox Machina animated TV show as to whether the canon is different enough it should be considered a separate canon to nominate or combined with the Critical Role nominations.

Personally, I think it should probably be separated. There are were some significant changes made to more minor characters as well as some characterization shifts for the main characters and changes to the plot to write out a main character who existed in the early episodes of the webseries but has been completely struck out of the cartoon. There were also some shifts to the timeline, condensing things in a way that means the main characters' relationships with some of the more minor characters are at a very different point than they were in the webseries by this particular part of the storyline.

In addition, there's a fair number of people who got into Vox Machina's story due to the cartoon but haven't actually seen the webseries for a variety of reasons. Combining them would mean anyone in that situation wouldn't be able to offer the fandom as TLoVM only covers episodes 24-35 of the webseries (and a single scene from episode 38) so they wouldn't be familiar with anything from episodes 1-23 or 36-115.

Yeah, longtime fan of CR here. While it adheres pretty closely to the source material, enough changes have been made for the animated show and the audience is different enough that I think they should be separated out as two different things in nominations. I'm interested to see what CR specific exchanges will do with that this winter.

That was me. I want literally any couple -- I started writing a pile of Neal/X/Y crossovers and then realized it might be more fun to just throw out the idea of Neal and any couple the requestor and author come up with, from canon White Collar couples to canon crossovers to OCs to slash and femslash couples to whatever people might like.

As someone who has only seen The Legend of Vox Machina, not Critical Role, I'd like to put my vote in for keeping them separate. I couldn't request/write for Critical Role, but I could potentially do something for TLOVM.

There’s a few ships under “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (TV)”, that I believe should be under “Star Trek Classic Timeline”, as SNW is a TV show set in that timeline

I'm happy to say the glitch is now fixed and I've approved those 616 nominations and confirmed they're in the tagset. The wandering tags/Arrovwerse duplicate are also now fixed too, thanks for mentioning them.

My nominations page has everything with a green check, but when I look for them in the main Holly Poly tag list I don't see the League of Legends tags I nominated. Possibly because while I could have sworn I put it in as League of Legends it's now listed as League of Legends & Related Fandoms. Maybe related to the tag switching you mentioned above?

Edited to add: I'm not certain combining the fandoms is a good idea though. Plenty of people who follow the game lore haven't watched Arcane (I haven't) and I feel like Arcane had a broad appeal where you'd also have plenty of people who have watched Arcane but don't know about the rest of the league world.

I may be nominating relationships under The Queen's Thief - Megan Whalen Turner that include "Relius's many many lovers" as one of the "characters"—I just wanted to note here in case this group raised any questions that this phrasing comes direct from the books themselves, under Some Persons of Significance: A List of Characters in the Queen's Thief Novels:
"Relius: He was the secretary of the Archives, with many, many lovers; one of whom turned out to be a spy for the Mede Emperor."

(...I've always just found it so fascinating that the number of Relius's lovers apparently requires using the word "many" twice and a comma in order to express it accurately!!)

I found a cut off tag under the fandom The Umbrella Academy (TV):

n Hargreeves/Klaus Hargreeves/Number Two | Ben Hargreeves (TV)

I also wanted to provide some fandom context about the character names, since the Hargreeves sibs are often getting their names shortened to make the character limit. There are two different characters named Ben Hargreeves: the one in the original timeline is Number Six, and the one in an alternate timeline with a completely different personality is Number Two.

All the other siblings in both timelines have a designated number callsign as well, but all except Number Five chose a unique first name, so it's clear who they are without the numbers. His canonical tag lists him as Number Five | The Boy, but in the show he's almost always referred to as Five or Number Five. Viktor Hargreeves | Vanya Hargreeves recently came out as trans, and he currently goes by Viktor and in previous seasons went by Vanya.

I'm fairly certain I remember what it was since there are so few TUA nominations (No 6 Ben/Klaus/No 2 Ben) and I have added that back into the tag set, but I'll put a note in our next post to ask anyone who nominated that fandom to check if all theirs are in the tagset.
