Nominations Glitches Causing Rejections + Nomination Clarifications #1

We're still busy going through nominations - a bit slower than usual as we get used to the process - but we've had a number of errors when submitting approvals of nominations on AO3, which we are contacting AO3 about. We weren't sure initially if those had caused any problems but we've had two people contact us today to ask about rejected nominations but we hadn't rejected those ourselves. At this stage we won't reject nominations - anything we're not certain about we would ask for clarifications first instead - so if you are seeing any rejections of either fandom or ships that is accidental and please let us know which they are so that we can correct that. We're also not sure if one of the errors might have resulted in fandom/ships getting approved but changed to a different fandom/ship by accident, so we recommend everyone checks their nominations and lets us know about anything you spot that's wrong.

The nominations open post has been updated to add clarifications about nominating House of the Dragon, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (TV 2022) and The Good Wife/The Good Fight and what to do if crossover ships hit the 100 character tag length limit.


If you nominated Bewildered Older Brother/Older Brother's BF/Horny Younger Brother Wishing to be in a Sandwich (OW) under Original Work, please can you spell out what BF should mean.

If you nominated Empire/Her Emperor/Her Capital City (OW) under Original Work, please can you clarify whether you mean anthropomorphic versions of Empire and Her Capital City or another type of representation for those.

If you nominated Space traveler/Citizens of planet where free use is normalized (OW) under Original Work, please can you clarify what you mean by free use in this context.

If you nominated Neal Caffrey/Couple he's seducing under White Collar, please can you clarify whether you want literally any couple or something more specific, like original characters, or canon characters who are a couple.

If you nominated Chel (Road to El Dorado)/Kuzco (Disney) under Emperor's New Groove (2000), this isn't eligible because it's only a 2 person ship, and it's also a crossover ship nominated under only one of the fandoms. If you meant to nominate an OT3 but made a mistake entering it, please let us know the full ship tag with the relevant fandom in brackets after each character name.

If you nominated the fandom The Real Ghostbusters, do you mean the animated show that ran from 1986-1991, or the original movies, or something else?


We're also looking for input from fans of Critical Role (Web Series) and the new The Legend of Vox Machina animated TV show as to whether the canon is different enough it should be considered a separate canon to nominate or combined with the Critical Role nominations.

We're also looking for input from fans of Critical Role (Web Series) and the new The Legend of Vox Machina animated TV show as to whether the canon is different enough it should be considered a separate canon to nominate or combined with the Critical Role nominations.

Personally, I think it should probably be separated. There are were some significant changes made to more minor characters as well as some characterization shifts for the main characters and changes to the plot to write out a main character who existed in the early episodes of the webseries but has been completely struck out of the cartoon. There were also some shifts to the timeline, condensing things in a way that means the main characters' relationships with some of the more minor characters are at a very different point than they were in the webseries by this particular part of the storyline.

In addition, there's a fair number of people who got into Vox Machina's story due to the cartoon but haven't actually seen the webseries for a variety of reasons. Combining them would mean anyone in that situation wouldn't be able to offer the fandom as TLoVM only covers episodes 24-35 of the webseries (and a single scene from episode 38) so they wouldn't be familiar with anything from episodes 1-23 or 36-115.

Yeah, longtime fan of CR here. While it adheres pretty closely to the source material, enough changes have been made for the animated show and the audience is different enough that I think they should be separated out as two different things in nominations. I'm interested to see what CR specific exchanges will do with that this winter.
